Our story
A mother's question started it all
“If I can't explain the ingredient, I don't want to feed it to my kids.”
Bon Gou wasn't supposed to become a bakery. Our founder is a mother of three — including twins on the autism spectrum — who paid close attention to what her children ate. The turning point came when her son read a barbecue sauce label out loud and asked what high-fructose corn syrup was. She didn't have a good answer, so she stopped serving it.
She started experimenting with Rapadou, an unrefined cane sugar, in her own kitchen — testing recipes on her children, her family, her neighbors, anyone who'd give her honest feedback. Pen Patat is what came out the other side.
